About Pepper's Mission

The story so far
We don't know anything about Pepper's life before she was abandoned.  When she first arrived at Furever Homes she was more than just a stray looking for a free lunch - she was in a very bad way. Heavily pregnant, Pepper needed urgent, life-saving surgery that came with a price tag many would consider impossible but for the team at Furever Homes, there was no question. They just said "yes" to saving her life.

After a largely uneventful recovery and adoption Pepper needed to be rehomed again because she didn't settle into her current home.  While her new people tried really hard to help her settle in she has a certain Main Character Energy that makes her an unsuitable house mate to other cats.  She eventually ended up in Wyndham, at the cat-less home of Inga Ford, local soapmaker, and became the One Cat to Rule Them All.  

Now Queen of her domain (and master of anything up high) Pepper is the healthy, sassy, and world-renowned boss of our soap studio in Wyndham, Southland. She spends her days supervising the curing racks, doing meet-and-greets with locals, and testing the structural integrity of our shipping boxes.  She has a manic mode that activates anytime the wind "blows funny" and is intense in her efforts to catch the butterfly on the string.  Watch for videos of Pepper and her favourite toys, coming soon.

The Mission: Paying it Back, and Forward
Watching Pepper thrive reminds us how many other "Peppers" are out there waiting for their own second chance. But second chances cost money - whether that's for the 'small' costs like food & vaccines, or spey/neuter programs, or for the big emergency surgeries that save lives like Pepper's.  

We've decided to combine our love of soap making with a goal as big as our cats sassy personality: Raise $5000 in the next 12 months for Southland pet charities (starting with Furever Homes who saved Pepper) by making and selling 5000 cat soap bars.  That's soap for humans - not soap for your cats.   

Every bar at Pepper’s Mission is:
Hand-crafted in Southland: Poured in small batches using traditional cold-process methods.  Lovingly hand-shaped into existence and then stamped to reveal each cats cute little face.
Cured for 6 Weeks: Just like a good nap, our soap takes time to reach perfection.
A Lifeline: $1 from every soap cat sold goes directly to charities that save pets in need.

When you "adopt" a box of cats, you aren't just getting a gorgeous box of soap. You’re helping us replenish the fund that saved Pepper, and ensuring the charity can say yes to other cats in the future.
